Lucas Blalock:
A New Way of Thinking
Lucas Blalock is an American photographer, born in 1978 in Asheville, North Carolina. He currently lives and works in New York City. Blalock's work is defined by his use of image processing software, Photoshop. However, rather than use the tool to improve or refine an image, Blalock emphasizes the "editing" process- revealing the processes behind photographic image. For Blalock, the goal is not to create a perfect image, but rather to explore the potential of digital manipulation to create new meanings and possibilities. His work challenges traditional ideas about what a photograph can be, and his unique approach has earned him critical acclaim both in the United States and internationally.
