Koi Ren is a creative thinker interested in creating an experience at the intersection between humans, society, science, and technology. She works with body and data, to generate tangible wearable devices and immersive digital experiences that borrow facets from nuance interactive between people, technology ethics, media theory, and feminism. She leverages technical engineering skills and unique artistic perspectives to execute interactive emerging technology projects with the medium of wearable, AR/VR, performance, and installation. Koi Ren is a Digital Insight Innovator at Nike Explore Team. She graduated from UC Berkeley Master of Design program, human-computer interaction and Graduate Certificate in New Media.

:iidrr Gallery is proud to present "Vexing Veil", an exhibition of art x tech x body selected artworks by Koi Ren, curated by @Shuwan. The exhibition will take place from March 3rd to 10th and will feature a range of works that seamlessly blend technology, philosophy, and social issues.

Koi's digital art explores the intersection of the body and emerging technologies, using wearable devices, gaze trackers, emotion sensors, and immersive tools to challenge traditional power dynamics and provide a voice for marginalized perspectives. By drawing on contemporary media studies and psychoanalysis, Ren investigates the tensions between subject and object in relation to the "male gaze" and "panopticon" concepts, illuminating the power structures embedded in everyday acts of looking.

The works on display include a real-time data NFT project, an interactive wearable device that explores subjective power dynamics in gaze behavior, an emotionally responsive virtual fashion project, and a multimedia performance that delves into the concept of modern witch trail and feminism reflection. Each work is a thought-provoking exploration of the ways that technology can reshape our relationships with the world around us and challenge us to think critically about the potential impacts of emerging technologies.
