We are all struggling to understand AI and its meaning for our existence. Jingyi Gao, in an ironic way, has turned these questions on their head. "What does AI think about us?" she asks in her work. What is it learning and revealing in order to develop itself from what it reads in the human body? Whatever it is that AI understands about us, we will learn also about ourselves. These portraits and these installations help us to understand the creative potential of an imaginative artist working with technology. Jingyi Gao is a remarkable, multi-talented artist who is leading her generation into new pursuits of the integration of art and technology.

New York, NY –Jingyi Gao, a New York-based multimedia artist, explores the dynamic interplay between technology and the human body through her focus on photography, video, and sculpture. Holding an MFA degree from the School of Visual Arts, Gao's work explores the symbiotic relationship between these elements, using Artificial Intelligence to reflect on our place in the world. Her global presence is evident through exhibitions at notable venues such as the Jinny Street Gallery in Toyoko, SVA Gallery, and The Holy Art Gallery in London.

The "IT IS US" exhibition, a mixed-media installation featuring sculptures, video installations, and photographs, aims to reimagine human body aspects from an artificial intelligence perspective, utilizing text-to-image generation, interactive installations, and photography. Gao's project is motivated by the increasingly intricate connection between humanity and advanced technology, as we strive to emulate human-like thought through AI. The project raises questions about AI's perception of the human body, particularly focusing on vital organs like the eyes and skin. Through innovative techniques, Gao captures AI-generated interpretations of scars and eyes, offering a unique lens into how machines view these elements. By dismantling the binary notion of human-technology relationships, "IT IS US" fosters a fresh discourse on the intricate fusion of technology and humanity.

:iidrr Gallery cordially invites you to join us at Jingyi Gao’s solo exhibition, "IT IS US," as we explore the connection between AI and individuals.
